New members inducted......

The Tumby Bay & District Lions club inducted two new members at the monthly dinner meeting on Monday 27 February.

Martin Fitzgerald known around Tumby as ‘Spike’ was sponsored by Wilbur Williams and brings a whole heap of much need skills to the club. Spike and his partner Andy enjoyed the special induction dinner meeting at the Seabreeze hotel along with a good turnout of members and partners. A local lad, Martin was born in Cummins, and after a successful Port Lincoln business venture in horticulture with Andy and a family of three has now settled into the farming life in Cockaleechie. An outdoorsman, Martin likes to go fishing, and camping, and in fact any outdoor lifestyle suits him best.

Also inducted on Monday night was David Williams. Since his new knee operation, David has thrown away the walking stick and joined Lions. David is a well-known Tumby district local and, follows the family tradition of working on the land. David was sponsored by Jeff Blackwell. David and his partner Jenny were welcomed to the club by President Peter and members during the dinner meeting.

David says he is looking forward to joining the Tumby Lions club to support the many projects that Lions takes on in the district. “I am particularly looking forward to working with Lions over the Colour Tumby weekend when Lions will be providing the breakfasts on the esplanade and then the barbecue throughout Sunday when the collection of vintage cars will be on display.”

As the newest members of the Tumby Bay Lions club, David and Martin will bring the current membership of the Tumby club to 41. This puts the membership of the Tumby Bay & District club among the top Lions clubs in the district.
